tiptap is changing the way people give

Kindness, empathy, compassion, sheer genius, and passion.

And yes – lots and lots of passion.

These are the words that run through one’s mind after learning all about a new little device called tiptap.

It’s about half the size of a deck of cards and is well on its way to making an enormous impact on the world.

And of course, we can’t forget about the remarkable group of people behind its development and its founder, Chris Greenfield.

It was clearly meant to be, but almost wasn’t.

When Greenfield began to develop the idea of tiptap, it was just a struggling start-up, but it started garnering a lot of interest, and funding for development from a huge investor was all set and ready to go.

Then COVID-19 hit, and the day before the funding transfer was to be made, the investor backed out.

“So, this is how we started the pandemic, by having to downsize, get rid of office space, and focus on whether or not this was something that we really wanted to continue to do,” explains Greenfield. “But we did some soul searching, and we’re like, ‘you know, this actually is a good thing because there is such an increased need for charity and fundraising during COVID.’”

In fact, the Salvation Army has now become a valuable partner. When asked about the relationship between tiptap and the Salvation Army, Greenfield says, “we’re actually in their annual report this year, which is awesome, and we actually helped them towards their best year ever last year in fundraising. We’ll be rolling out across North America with them and are starting to explore other markets around the world with them.”

Helping those who need it the most, in the communities we live and work in, has never been so easy to take part in, for literally every person with a debit or credit card, or a digital wallet, thanks to tiptap.

Charities and organizations around the world that work tirelessly to end homelessness, and feed the hungry, were hit very hard by the pandemic, in terms of a huge decrease in donations, with cities and towns around the globe on lockdown.

But in addition to that, the digital world we are rapidly becoming used to is resulting in a cashless society, leading to far less people being able to make cash donations, or have an easy, and convenient way to donate to a charity that is meaningful to them.

This amazing little device, tiptap, allows anyone to donate, any amount, to their favorite charity or cause, as fast as it takes to tap your card.

The decrease in the use of cash has also dramatically impacted the hospitality industry, faith-based giving, as well as concert and festival venues. Employees in these business sectors rely on tips, and this is where tiptap comes in, to offer tap-to-tip and tap-to-pay solutions.

A deep passion to give back, and help those less fortunate and most in need, are values that were instilled in Greenfield throughout his childhood.

“I grew up in a small town, a small-town boy with those kinds of values, to give back and help others,” he smiles.

Greenfield has carried those values with him into his adulthood, and into all aspects of his life, and especially into the creation of tiptap.

Thanks to the devotion of Greenfield and his team, building a start-up business in the midst of a global pandemic was clearly the right thing to do.

“I think what it’s done is really kind of supercharge our efforts. It’s supercharged people’s focus and interest in it, and that’s why we’ve gone from a start-up to now being across North America, and we do our first European program next year. We now have other regions that are chomping at our heels for us to help them as well.”

The innovation was founded on a mission, based on compassion and empathy, and as a way to give back to our communities, by helping those most in need, by making it easier for anyone to donate to the charities and organizations that provide that help. By incorporating technology with giving, the idea of touchless giving™ is the basis of tiptap.

As mentioned, Greenfield, and his team are filled to the brim with passion, and they’ve set their aspirations on making a global impact.

Their first European program just launched at the start of October. The tiptap foundation, which is the charitable fundraising arm of tiptap, has goals for the near future in expanding their passions beyond ending homelessness, to cleaning and restoring our oceans and shorelines, allowing coastal ecosystems to thrive once again, as well as working with environmental groups around the world to create a Trillion Trees initiative, by planting a tree for every tap, which they estimate will plant over one million trees per year.

By focusing on resolving the causes of homelessness and tackling environmental causes to protect and restore our oceans and forests, tiptap’s bold mission is to positively impact all of humanity, and the idea of giving everyone a simple, and convenient way to give, and get involved in helping their communities, will change the lives of people around the globe.
