SpotSurfer App Transforms Unused Parking Spaces into Parking Congestion Solution

SpotSurfer, a groundbreaking parking management app, has launched to transform parking in Colorado’s premier ski destinations.

SpotSurfer addresses the pressing parking challenges in ski resorts as well as other busy events, facilitating a better experience for visitors and residents alike. This innovative solution has customers and property owners calling it the “Airbnb of parking.”

Operated by Erik Davison, CEO, and James Hohenlohe, founder and president, both alumni of the University of Colorado-Boulder, the app utilizes underused parking spaces from businesses, homes, and hotels, creating additional parking capacity without the need for new construction.

This makes parking a breeze for users and opens up additional revenue streams for property owners monetizing unused spaces, Hohenlohe explains.

“What if available parking spaces in business, homes, and anywhere else could be utilized to alleviate parking congestion problems?  With SpotSurfer, anybody – homeowners, businessowners, or the many hotel owners that we have partnered within Vail – can now rent them out, thanks to our new app. This opens up many more spaces in many communities without actually having to build them,” says Hohenlohe.

SpotSurfer, and its user-friendly technology, not only revolutionizes parking for its users but also improves the local community.  On top of the newfound revenue streams for property owners by streamlining parking, SpotSurfer alleviates traffic congestion, minimizes the environmental impacts of idling in search of spaces, and much more.

With SpotSurfer, drivers can find available parking spaces, make reservations, and pay using contactless payment methods. The app offers flexibility in parking reservations, catering to both planners and spontaneous visitors.

“Our app offers peace of mind to travelers who now don’t have to worry about the spaces being all filled up. You can sleep in a little bit, confident in the knowledge the spot is reserved ahead of time,” says Hohenlohe. “Last-minute spots are available as well for those who arrive at a parking lot only to find it full, you can book a spot on SpotSurfer.”

SpotSurfer serves a diverse clientele, offering varying parking solutions that range from basic economy to premium services.

“SpotSurfer is tailored to a wide range of different customers,” says Davison. “When students come out to ski, they may be looking for a guaranteed spot at the lowest possible rate. Others may prioritize amenities and being steps from the slopes. SpotSurfer has something for everyone.”

To support these varied needs, SpotSurfer has partnered with several five-star hotels in the Vail Valley area, offering amenity-based parking that includes benefits such as valet parking, discounted meals, and access to spa facilities.

SpotSurfer is beta testing the app in certain areas of Colorado including several resorts, but a smooth slide to the slopes is just the first step.

As the “Airbnb of parking,” SpotSurfer is set to become as ubiquitous as other scheduling apps when it comes to parking spaces. SpotSurfer is set to streamline the parking experience at concerts, professional sports games, malls, and anywhere else.

“We’ve honed our vision to focus on proving the concept in one geography before rolling it out globally. We’re not just looking at ski season but also at accommodating visitors for summer activities and other high-demand events around the year,” said Davison.

SpotSurfer’s Davison and Hohenlohe met at the University of Colorado-Boulder, where Davison mentored business students for the past decade.  Hohenlohe, a former mentee of Davison, brought him the idea for SpotSurfer and they partnered together to revolutionize parking.

The rest is history and now people have better access to parking, while homeowners and businesses have a fresh economic engine.
