ZumiVet in San Diego brings the vet clinic to your door

Getting a veterinarian has never been easier, thanks to Dr. Elizabeth McCalley, DVM, and her new mobile vet business, ZumiVet.

That’s right, you can call this a ‘purrfect’ new business that pet owners in San Diego will adore as it will deliver the finest veterinary care to cats and dogs in the comfort of their very own homes.

The entrepreneur is all set to launch her mobile vet service this Thursday, July 15, 2021, which means that she will bring the clinic right to your door.

ZumiVet is the first full-service mobile veterinary practice in San Diego that also specializes in rehabilitation.

Educated at Cornell University and Texas A&M University, Dr. McCalley is Fear Free certified, and is completing a certification in rehabilitation for pets.

Her mobile service is equipped with all the cutting-edge technology to help your pet recover from an injury, or illness, and she has the training and expertise to ensure a stress-free experience for you and your four-legged friend.

Dr. McCalley saw the need for her mobile vet service first-hand during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she had the opportunity to work at various veterinary clinics that were all performing curbside services. This did not allow for pet parents to be present with their pets during care. While this was fine for outgoing pets, she noticed that timid dogs and cats were showing more signs of fear, anxiety, and stress while in the clinics.

With this, ZumiVet was born and Dr. McCalley is now here to provide pet owners with an alternative service that allows cats and dogs to be examined in the comfort of their own homes with their pet parents right by their sides.

Dr. McCalley also knows that there is a huge need for her mobile service since the only veterinary clinics that specialize in rehabilitation are in the northern part of the city, which is normally a 40-minute drive from the core, and that’s without traffic.

“ZumiVet will offer lots of pet owners and pets with many benefits,” explains Dr. McCalley. “Our mobile vet service will offer convenience, efficiency in care, and most of all will reduce stress and anxiety for pet owners and pets.”

Getting a veterinarian has never been easier in San Diego, thanks to Dr. Elizabeth McCalley, DVM, and her new mobile vet business, ZumiVet.

She adds, “Just about anything done in the veterinary clinic exam room can be accomplished during a home visit. With us, you are removing the stress of car rides, long waits in the exam room, and other animal encounters.”

ZumiVet offers a wide range of mobile veterinary services, including vaccines, health certificates, lab testing, dermatology, wellness exams, nutritional consultations, laser therapy, in-home euthanasia, and rehabilitation. Dr. McCalley is also offering telemedicine visits through video, phone, or text for established patients who have had an exam within the last 12 months. Dentistry and surgeries will be performed by Dr. McCalley at the Purple Paws Pet Clinic in Coronado on Mondays of each week.

What makes this business so unique is that it allows Dr. McCalley to fulfill her passion for helping animals, which she discovered as a young teenager.

“When I was 13 years old, I adopted my first dog, Coco, after many years of begging my parents. It was quickly apparent that Coco was very ill. My mom warned me that she might not make it. Not willing to accept that fate for my new best friend, I began researching her symptoms online. I asked my veterinarian to prescribe her a different antibiotic, and after taking the new medication, she quickly recovered. From that point on, being an excellent veterinarian was my mission,” she smiles.

Now living and working in “America’s Finest City,” Dr. McCalley is excited to grow her new venture.

“Right now, the focus is growing the business in San Diego and helping pets with their health and wellness needs,” she says. “Then later I will most likely look at hiring and possibly even franchising”

ZumiVet will serve the following areas: Pacific Beach, La Jolla, Torrey Pines, University City, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Rancho Santa Fe, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs, Point Loma, Liberty Station, Clairemont, Linda Vista, and Mission Valley. Visits outside of the service areas may be available but you should contact Dr. McCalley to inquire.
